Binkley's Funeral Service

Binkley's Funeral Service was established in 1914
making it one of the oldest organizations in
Shaunavon, Saskatchewan.  Binkley's purchased
the old Canadian Bank of Commerce in 1948
(possibly 1946) and, after remodeling and
building an addition, moved into the space
which they continue to occupy all these years
later.

It gave me great pleasure to see a building that
celebrates its centennial this year and is so well
maintained and preserved as this one.  An
appreciative"thank you" to the folks at
Binkley's.

A note of interest is the caduceus, a symbol of
commerce, atop the old bank building (see
photo No.4).  This is the second time I've seen
this symbol adorning an old bank building, the
first being on the old Bank of Commerce in
Empress, Alberta (see photo No.5) which now
operates as That's Empressive.

Photographed on September 29, 2017.

    1. Thanks, Jenn. It's definitely well maintained and hasn't been noticeably modernized.
