Meadow Fritillary

A Meadow Fritillary butterfly near the
southern boundary of the Cypress Hills
Interprovincial Park of Alberta.  These were
a common sight in the open areas of the
park this year.  The third photo shows it
feeding on the nectar of a bull thistle flower.

Willow Creek Road is the "back road"
entrance to the park and is open for use
about five months of the year.

Photographed on August 13, 2017.

Cypress Hills, butterfly, Elkwater, Alberta
