A large clump of deep red coloured grass at Horseshoe
Canyon in the Cypress Hills. Very showy.
Horseshoe Canyon sits at an elevation of over 4700 feet.
This summer the view has been somewhat hindered by
smoke from forest fires in British Columbia but it still
makes quite an impact. On a clear night the lights of
Medicine Hat are clearly visible about thirty miles
away and the sky is filled with stars.
The eclipse was occuring while I was here. There was
no end of the world or anything quite so dramatic. The
most noticeable change was the temperature drop; such
a drop in fact that I had to get a sweater out of the truck.
Photographed on August 21, 2017.
