Grace Church and Cemetery

Grace Church and Cemetery is located in the Goldstone
area of Hill County, Montana.  The cemetery has had
recent burials but the original church is now gone.
In its place stands a steel framework in the shape
of the historic church but smaller in scale.

This took me by surprise as I was expecting to find
the original church.  But...after walking through the
cemetery for a short time my initial disappointment
soon faded as I adopted the "new" church as the
spirit of the old church.

The Sweet Grass Hills were to the west and this
meadowlike spot simply felt warm and inviting.  All
was well and good at Grace Church and Cemetery.

  1. I like the outline of the church. It is a very interesting way of marking what once was.

    1. Thanks, BW. I like the use of steel for signs and monuments and the like (or maybe you noticed). I think it helps bring the cemetery into the 21st century. Hopefully it'll last many more years.

  2. A neat way to remember the old church! There is a mini church near Didsbury that is a replica of the original. It's a fun little roadside stop.

    1. The new church will last a long time and require very little maintenance too. I'd like to see the one in Didsbury.
