Whitla Catholic Church

The Whitla Catholic Church was built in 1913 and for
decades served the community of Whitla, Alberta.  It
is located just north of town and has been
repurposed as a granary.

I met someone in the area who had been baptized in the
church in the late 1950s.  During his childhood the
congregation moved into the former Whitla School that
had been closed in the early 1960s.  This building also
still exists but as a private residence.

Photographed on November 13, 2016.

  1. To see a church turned into a granary bothers me.

    1. I know what you mean. It just seems to be wrong.
