Linacre School

Linacre School is located in the Fox Valley area of
Saskatchewan.  It was in School District
Number 1381 and had been formerly
known as Peace Valley School.

Information found on the Saskatchewan One Room
School Project site states that small school districts,
usually made up of a single one room school,  were
spaced every four to six miles apart.  The Dominion
Government had designated Sections 11 and 29 of
every township as school sections.

It was frosty and cool that morning in
the R.M. of Fox Valley.

Saint Anne's Church and Cemetery

Saint Anne's Church and Cemetery are located south
of Irvine, Alberta, near the Cypress Hills.

A memorial marker sits inside the small fenced
cemetery with only three of the seven interments
marked by headstones.  The church that sat next to
the cemetery is gone but remnants of the wooden
foundation can still be seen in some of
the accompanying photographs.

Thanks to BW Bandy for pointing me in the right
direction to this cemetery.  You can see his blog

Saint Gabriel's Catholic Church 1946-2000

This church is located in the hamlet of Etzikom, Alberta
in the County of Forty Mile No. 8.  After over fifty years
of service it was decommissioned; many years of neglect
followed and then plans were made to demolish the church.

A local resident decided this landmark was worth saving
and purchased it.  The day I photographed it I talked
with him and he had decided to give it a new coat of
paint the following spring.  Sadly, he passed away
just a few months ago.

My hopes are that the family will proceed with his
plans for the church.  It would be a lovely
memorial to him.

Milk River Valley Church of the Brethren

The Milk River Valley Church of the Brethren is located
northwest of Kremlin, Montana and west of the Fresno
Reservoir in Hill County.  It is also known as the
Kremlin-Gildford Church of the Brethren and
has long been abandoned.

For those who aren't familiar with the area, this church
is less than forty miles southeast of Comrey Cemetery
in southeastern  Alberta.

The inside-looking-out window views in the third and
fourth last photographs are views of the cemetery across
the road from the church and what may have been a
parsonage.  The original parsonage burned down
during the construction of the church between 1915
and 1918 and I believe this may have been
its replacement.

The Kremlin Montana History website is well worth a
visit for information about the church and area.
